Off the southern coast of Zanzibar, near the fishing village of Kizimkazi, lies a fleeting island of white sand surrounded by turquoise waters. This is Pungume Sandbank, a (sometimes) dry spot in the sea that's a popular stop for boat tours and snorkelers. At low tide, the bank emerges like a mirage, offering a perfect spot to relax, swim, or picnic in the middle of the Indian Ocean. The area is also known for dolphin sightings and coral reefs teeming with colorful marine life.
