In this stretch of the Canadian Rockies where two provinces straddle the Great Divide, the winding dotted line on the map marks many remarkable peaks. These include Mount Assiniboine—the Matterhorn-esque mount that's the tallest in the region and this provincial park's namesake—and the raggedy massif known as the Towers, showcased in this wide-angle shot. The Towers' several summits mark British Columbia's border with neighbor province Alberta, though the land just past the peaks is managed by the Canadian government as Banff National Park.
