Tea Plantations, Cameron Highlands

Named for William Cameron, a geologist who first mapped the area for Britain in 1885, the Cameron Highlands are renowned for their mild climate. This wouldn't be so noteworthy except that the lush landscape is part of Malaysia, a country whose lower elevations often swelter in tropical heat. The air here is ideal for both the expansive tea plantations carpeting the rolling landscape, and for an extensive tourist trade that keeps this corner of fantastically scenic Pahang state buzzing. Fortify yourself with a few cups of tea before you head out for other Cameron Highlands attractions: rainforest hikes, temple tours, historic townships, and world-class strawberry farms.
